We'll save you a table

What is a milanesa?

A milanesa is a thin fillet of meat dipped in egg and breadcrumbs and fried until the coating is golden and crispy. It reached the Río de la Plata with Italian immigrants, as a descendant of the cotoletta alla milanese, and there it became an everyday home-cooked dish. In Argentina and Uruguay it's ordered plain, with lemon, or topped with tomato and melted cheese, the famous napolitana.

At La Choza it's the dish that gave us our name and the one people order most. That's why we treat it with care: every milanesa is breaded and fried when the order comes in, never before. So the coating arrives crispy and the meat stays juicy inside.

How to choose yours

Beef

The classic choice. Richer flavour and firmer texture, the closest to the traditional milanesa.

Chicken

Lighter and milder. It goes very well with bold toppings, such as the cheesy or creamy ones.

Aubergine

The meat-free option. Breaded aubergine stays tender inside and takes the same toppings as the other bases.

A tip for your first visit: if you're not sure which topping to go for, start with a simple one to taste the milanesa itself and save the more elaborate ones for next time. And if there are several of you, ordering different bases to share is the best way to find your favourite. The price is the same whichever base you choose.

What to have with it

A milanesa calls for something fresh or contrasting. Fries are the most popular side, but a salad from our starters section balances a fried dish nicely. To start, empanadas or some tapas to share work well without filling you up. You'll find all the options on the full menu.

If someone at the table doesn't fancy a milanesa, our burgers and grilled meats come from the same kitchen and arrive at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a meat-free milanesa?

Yes. The aubergine milanesa is made the same way as the beef and chicken ones, with the same toppings and at the same price.

Do milanesas contain gluten?

The coating is made with breadcrumbs, which contain gluten, and some toppings contain dairy. If you have any allergy or intolerance, tell us when ordering and we'll point you to suitable options.

Can I order them to take away?

Yes. Call us on +34 933 25 19 49 or send us a WhatsApp and we'll have it ready for collection.

When can I order them?

Throughout kitchen hours, from 8:00 to 23:00, every day. We're at Gran Via 300; see how to get here on our restaurant page.

Twenty toppings, five families

With twenty toppings it's easy to get lost. To choose faster, think of them as five families by flavour:

  • Classic melted cheese: Napolitana, A la pizza, Caprese, Fugazetta and Palermo. Melted mozzarella with tomato, ham, onion or rocket. The ones most reminiscent of a Buenos Aires pizzeria.
  • With a fried egg: Americana, Serrana, Provolone, Peperoni and BBQ. In Argentina they say these come «a caballo» (on horseback), and the yolk acts as a sauce.
  • Creamy: Espinaca, Patagónica and Jamón ibérico. A cream on top instead of melted cheese, softer and richer.
  • Cheese lovers: 3 Quesos, Pirineus, Cheddar and Calafate. For when cheese is the star.
  • With mushrooms: Siciliana and Iguazú, with Gouda, sun-dried tomato and caramelised or crispy onion.

And for those who prefer their milanesa with nothing on top, the Clásica comes with salad and fries.

Three tips for your first time

Start with the base. If you like bold flavours, beef; if you prefer something mild, chicken; if you don't eat meat, aubergine. The price is the same.

Pick a topping from the family you fancy most. If in doubt, the Napolitana is the most famous in Argentina and the one most ordered here.

Leave room for a starter. An empanada before your milanesa is the most Argentine combination there is, and it costs 3,15 €.

Milanesas for groups

At a table of several people, the milanesa has a clear advantage: everyone chooses their own base and topping without changing the price, so the bill is easy to work out and nobody has to give up what they like. For large groups and celebrations, we also include it in our set menus with drinks. Get in touch for details.
